The term clog has four different meanings; they are a type of shoe or sandal made from wood, a type of shoe or boot with leather sides and upper wooden soles, a special shoe worn while performing clog dancing and comfortable slip on shoes. Traditional clogs were made from willow or polar wood and were associated with Dutch and people from Switzerland. The clogs are worn as traditional costumes in those regions.
Some ladies clogs resemble sneakers but because they are backless they can be considered clogs, there are clogs that look like slippers but fall under the classification of clogs. It sounds strange because when you think of clogs you think of clunky wooden type shoes but the modern fashionable clogs are very different.
Some of the more popular brands of clogs are Uggs, Via Spiga, Merrell, Tommy Hilfiger, Cole Hann, Rocket Dog and Liz Claiborne. There are clogs with heels and then some of the clogs with rubber soles and are rather flat to the ground.
Clogs are very affordable shoes; they look great with dress as well as casual wear.
Clogs were very popular in the 70’s and they have made a comeback in the 90’s. Clogs are very easy to wear; you can wear them with or without socks. They are great in the summer and very fashionable.
